Hey everybody... since I was a teenager, I've made my living working around media production.   Most of my working life has been spent in control rooms: TV and Radio, recording studios, and film & TV show post-production.

I've also had the opportunity to create some of the techniques and develop technologies that make some pretty cool things possible.  
 
In 1991 I traveled the country to install the real-time interactive digital audio network that made the Frank Sinatra Duets album possible. Soon after, I installed the film synchronization system in director Robert Zemeckis's house for "Forrest Gump."  Dozens of installations later, Entertainment Digital Network (EDnet) changed the way the Entertainment Industry works.  It's long-distance,  live, and interactive -- something the Web cannot do.

In 2005, I developed a digital audio process to convert stereo music mixes into 5.1 surround sound in a truly natural way.

I performed all the 5.1 music upmixes for director Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds." I used that process, now known as Penteo®, and it is now used in dozens of blockbuster motion pictures to produce custom 5.1 surround music mixes.  You've probably heard it.

Most recently, I've turned my attention to developing techniques for the restoration of hit records of the 1960s through the 1980s.  I flatten out the spectrum, synchronize the channels, and remove the noise. It makes them sound brand new.

I'm tremendously grateful for the opportunities I've had to pursue my career passions.

Now I'm proud to have settled down as part of the engineering staff at KRON4 TV in San Francisco.  SF has been my home for 30 years, and KRON is a long-time innovator and pioneer in electronic newsgathering.  There I work to keep the operation smoothly running at the forefront of new technology.
